Effective Link Building

2009 September 13

If you’ve spent any time building inlinks for websites, then you know how tedious, frustrating and difficult link building can be. You can spend hours researching websites relevant to your own material that may want to link to you, and come up dry. Luckily, the days of the reciprocal link exchange are essentially over, and you can spend your time building links in more effective, meaningful and natural ways. Here are some things you can do to make others want to link to you:

Create a Blog

Why not? Everyone else has one! Blogs are very ordinary in the sense that so many people have them, and publish content to them. But if done correctly, a real web presence can build. Find your niche, stay consistent and on point. You’ll inevitably attract others, some of whom will link back to your quality content and give you a boost.

Press Releases

If you’re a company, submitting press releases is a great way to get the word out on the latest-and-greatest of your business. These are quality inlinks to your website, and also disseminate your web presence so others can find your content and link to you.

Affiliate Programs

ECommerce sites can quickly gather links from very relevant affiliate websites by starting an affiliate program. Many material-goods companies offer commissions from 5-8% although intellectual property industries such as software are able to offer upwards of 30% commission on software products sold. Not all affiliates will effectively refer potential conversions to your website, but they will all provide inlinks to your home page and various other pages within your site.

There are so many other creative and original ways to get people to link to your website, and one of the great things about this field is that it is very dynamic, so those in the industry will always be looking for (and finding) newer and better ways of building links.
