Freelancing at the oDesk

I spent a scant 10 hours on Sunday getting to know oDesk, a freelance Internet hub for Web Designers, Writers, Administrators, IT professionals and more. I’ve known some friends to find moderate success with oDesk but never really knew how much they put into it because I was too busy to look into something I wasn’t going to be interested in myself. I guess I can’t say that anymore! I paid special attention to a lot of the features at oDesk so I could relay some of the finer points to you here.

oDesk is Easy to Navigate

What struck me the most about oDesk is the simple fact that it was so easy to use. Navigation really is point-and-click and not search-and-search-and-point-then-click like many websites that have too much information and a setup that really leaves the visitor confused and frustrated. That wasn’t the case with oDesk, where virtually all the information you need can be found in the simple drop down menu’s across the top of the page.

oDesk Helps Providers Make Money

oDesk makes money when you make money, so they make it their job to keep you informed with features like the oConomy which is great for finding for information about projects in your field, like how much they’re going for and who the top earners are. Information like this can give you good insight to what buyers are looking for in a provider.

On the Other Hand…

I look forward to talking with more buyers about their projects and maybe doing a little bit on the side if something intriguing comes along. I would love the opportunity to get a restaurant involved in social media networking to promote business. Maybe oDesk will help connect me with someone! In the meantime, comment on your experiences with oDesk and let me know how you feel about it!
